Reading to Kiwi!

One of our blogging buddies in England have posted pictures of the children reading to their class "pet". The mouse isn't real, he is a soft toy, but it looked like fun for the children to take turns reading to Mouse. We liked it so much that we have decided to do the same, but our "pet" is called Kiwi.

Here is Super Star Bella reading to Kiwi.

Week 6:

We have had such a busy week, but it has been fun, have a look and see what we have been up to:

Mark Kairua came to Rata block and taught us some more Kapa Haka songs.
He told us that Kapa Haka means 'group dance'
Thanks Mark.
We also had an assembly on Thursday and Rata block was presenting our Bee work. We were fantastic and we even surprised Mrs Church.

We welcomed our new people, Ohara, Paytan, William, Sarah and Tasmyn.
Phoenix and Kayla got certificates for  great participating and contributing.
Well done everyone!

Powhiri Clip

Solar Eclipse:

Today we went outside to look at the sun. We wore special glasses so we could see the moon covering the sun. It is called a Solar Eclipse.
"The sun looked like the moon because it was chopped in half " Phoenix.
"The moon was covering the sun." Ohara

Powhiri

This morning we had our Powhiri for this term. It was again a very special time...
For our British friends, a Powhiri is a traditional Maori welcome for all of our new students.

Check out some of the photos.
